I really, really wish I had written this first.

Top 10 Things I Learned Listening To SOTU Last Night

  1. I didn't get to watch the SOTU last night either, but what I've read about it so far today really made me continue shaking my head. Lol thanks for sharing this article. It made me chuckle.I ran across this quote at the bottom of a totally off subject email this morning, and I thought well this all makes sense to me. Tis a shame it seems as if our dear President thinks totally the opposite on everything. That rather than listening to the people, he prefers to try to command them to his will even if it isn't what's best. He thinks it is, and everyone else is just too stupid to understand. Anyway, here's the quote - though it does seem to contradict everything we're being told these days.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot lift the wage-earner by pulling down the wage-payer. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you make. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot establish security on borrowed money. You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves." -- William J.H. Boetcker (1873-1962)
