Response From Senator Hagan's Office

My husband and I have been burning up Senator Kay Hagan's email box with our concerns about Health Care, Cap and Trade and other issues. Over and over we get the same automatically generated reply from her office. At least we know the emails are landing in a box somewhere.

My question is, does anyone read them? Does anyone count the for and against emails on any particular topic? Somehow, I doubt it. Here is the text of her automatic email reply for your entertainment:

September 30, 2009

Dear Friend,

I wanted to take a moment to
thank you for contacting me to share your thoughts and opinions. Since taking
office, I have received an overwhelming number of calls and emails from North
Carolinians like you who are ready to take an active part in our government. I
appreciate each and every call and email. With our country facing some of its
toughest challenges in a generation, your phone calls and messages are an
important factor guiding my work here in Washington. Please be assured that we
will get back to you as soon as possible regarding your specific concern.

I would like to take this opportunity to share my website with you.
Please visit http://Hagan.Senate.Gov to find contact information for my offices

there about what I've been doing in North Carolina and Washington. It is an
honor to serve as your United States Senator, and I appreciate your patience as
I transition into this new role. I sincerely hope you will not hesitate to
contact me at any time to share your concerns and voice your opinions on our
country's most pressing issues.

Sincerely,

Kay R. Hagan

Letters to Hagan

I spent some time this morning writing letters to my Senator. Senator Hagan has constantly followed the Democratic Party line in her voting and I know that trying to persuade her to change is futile. However, I will continue to try. I have actually grown to enjoy banging my head against a brick wall. (Just joking, but you know the feeling.)

I ask that the rest of you try as well. Let your elected representatives know how you feel. Be polite, be concise, and be persistent. Write letters or emails. Call them. However you do it, let them know how you feel about the issues. Let them know how you want them to vote.

We have sat on our couches and cursed the television too long. We have napped through the groundwork being laid for a peaceful takeover of our government and our lives. The Radical Left has taken control of three branches of our government. The agenda they are pushing through in the form of the healthcare bills (there are several-nobody seems to know how many) and the Energy bills (there are several of those floating around too) will drastically change life in these United States.

Get off your butts, and call, write, or email. You owe it to yourselves, your children, and your grandchildren.

If enough of us let them know that going against our will means they lose their jobs; maybe, just maybe they will listen. And after listening, and finally hearing us, maybe they will act in our behalf.

If they don't; get out of bed and off your butts in 2010 and 2012 and vote them out of office!

Japan Abandons America

I work for a Japanese owned company. It's probably one of the reasons I still have a job in the current economy. Naturally, Japanese/American relations is extremely important to me on a personal level.

The UK Telegraph reported recently that , "A split is emerging between the United States and Japan over the new Tokyo government's anti-globalization rhetoric and its threats to end a refueling agreement for US ships in support of the war in Afghanistan."

The new Japanese leader, Yukio Hatoyama, was sworn in last Wednesday and is threatening a split with the United States. Hatoyama blames the US for the global economic melt-down and is threatening to only use the yen in dealings with the US. This would drastically lower the value of the dollar. His campaign also promised a more "independent" foreign policy from Washington, and closer relations with Japan's Asian neighbors.

America is about to lose one of its most powerful allies. This will affect all Americans, but I am especially concerned. What will happen to my job then?

Angry American’s

Rasmussen reports that 66% of American voters are angry and 36% are very angry at the direction Obama and the Democratic Party (and left-leaning Republicans) have plotted for the county. Only 33% believe the United States is headed in the right direction.

The polls also show that political anger is higher than it was when George W. Bush was president. That doesn't surprise me. I was upset with President Bush almost every day, but my personal anger and outrage at President Bush are dwarfed in comparison to my feelings about Obama. President Bush actually came across as a bumbling idiot. Obama is a far left radical who is going to remake our country in the image of the socialist nations of Europe (if not worse). Obama is scary.

We are right to be angry. We must keep the energy of our anger focused on actions we can take to prevent our country from disappearing before our eyes.

Contact your representatives by whatever means you are comfortable with: call, email, fax, and write letters. Inundate them with your message. Don't let up. It can be discouraging, but we have to dog their every step in order to get and keep their attention.

Join local groups and march with them whenever you can. Talk to everyone who will listen; be polite, be kind, tell them the facts and give them the information that is being withheld by the Obama controlled media.

It is up to us, the angry Americans, to take action and reclaim our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Disgusted

This week was filled to the brim with Obama appearances. He gave a speech at the United Nations that, in my opinion, showed once again how inexperienced he is at leadership on the world stage. He again took center stage at the G-20 Summit, and seemed to be to be pressing for the "New World Order" that so-called 'right-wingers' have been predicting for years.

As President of the United States, he was obligated to attend these meetings at the UN and G-20 Summit. That does not bother me. It is his job. He was elected as the CEO of America and as such is required to attend meetings with other world leaders. We, as a nation, elected Barack Hussein Obama to be our President, our representative to the world.

But why does he feel we are so bad that in each and every speech he gives to world leaders he must back-track on all our achievements, down-play all the good we have done for those countries and promise to do better in the future? If I totally screw something up on my job, cost the company time and money, and slow down production; I tell my boss I am sorry (and I am) and promise to do better in the future. That is what Obama seems to be doing in every speech he makes to world leaders. So, where did we screw up so badly as to make it necessary to apologize?

Don't get me wrong. I know we have done things that were not looked at favorably by other nations. I know we have made mistakes. Just like in my job, where I am only human, the United States as a country is comprised of humans and humans make mistakes. As a nation it's just on a grander scale. It doesn't make us bad!

As each day passes with this administration in charge, my fear for my future and our nation's future grows stronger. This article in the Washington Post about Obama describes my feelings about Obama. Please read it.

Mmm Mmm Mm, Barack Hussein Obama

If you have seen the video I mentioned in a previous post that shows school children singing praise songs about our Dear Leader; and if it upset you as much as it did me, you will enjoy this. Tonight on Twitter a spontaneous "sing along" erupted as tweets of new lyric's to the Mmm Mmm Mm song hit the screen fast and furious. I added one, but the rest were contributed by @VoteOutTheLiars.

I believe we are onto something here. All movements need songs to rally the troops, and these make good sing-along verses. Just ask the children that were so carefully taught the original version. My verse will be added first, @VoteOutTheLiars will follow

US to Give $$ to Gadhafi!

Give me a break. Read this interesting piece of news about what King Obama's administration is doing. I never cease to be amazed. This article Kirk To Obama: Withdraw Grants To Libyan Charities will let you know for sure we are groveling to terrorist regimes.

King Obama – A Rant

Did you watch President Obama's address to the United Nations' yesterday? It was a continuation of his world-wide apology tour. In addition he all but threw Israel under the bus. For the past eight months he has worked diligently to alienate our allies, while he crawls on his belly to appease petty dictators and enemy regimes.

Does Obama think he is King of the United States? Watch him, he walks, talks and acts like he is king. He and the HIS Congress and Senate are about to force laws on us we do not want. They are working overtime to impose regulations and taxes that will reduce the once proud United States into a socialist nightmare. We, my friends, are about to enter a new Dark Ages.

Our children are already being indoctrinated into the Obama Cult, much like the children were in Hitler's Germany, and still are today in Communist/Socialist countries. Have you seen the video of the school children rapping about our wonderful president? I've heard the original video has been removed from YouTube, but you can see it on Michele Malkin's web site. Disgusting, if I had a child in that school, I would pull them out immediately.

If King Obama has his way there will be no presidential elections in 2012. He will create a crisis that allows him to postpone elections, or follow Iran's example and rig the vote. I foresee Black Panther's or ACORN, or SEIU members standing outside polling places to discourage voters who would vote against him from the attempt. I foresee the internet being so tightly controlled that blogs like mine and the many more informative sites closed down as well as the social networking sites that allow us to exchange information.

I hope I'm wrong, but I've lived long enough to see it happen in other countries and am afraid I may live long enough to see it happen here.

Lord Save Us From Our Educational System

This is a clip from Monday's Glenn Beck show. College student's in Berkley California were asked a series of "simple" questions (simple for this old woman at least).

It is no wonder these young people are so easily brain-washed. They either have no brains or our educational system is a complete failure. If I had a child of school age; I would be home schooling!

God save us, America!

Reading List

Anyone who knows me, knows I love to read. My choices of reading material will vary based on my current interests. Right now the books I'm reading, or have stacked on the coffee table to be read, include the following:

  • Culture of Corruption, by Michelle Malkin [Reading this now. Have to stop ever so often and marvel at the corruption of the people we elected to high office in 2008]
  • Glenn Beck's Common Sense, by Glenn Beck. [Read and may read again. Contains full version of Thomas Paine's Common Sense pamphlet from Revolutionary days. A great read and very informative book. I highly recommend it.]
  • The 5000 Year Leap, Principles of Freedom 101, by W. Cleon Skousen [I have read some of this, it is outstanding]
  • Uprising, by David Sirota [Not yet read]
  • Liberal Fascism, by Jonah Goldberg [Not yet read, but high on the list for next]
  • The Making of America, The Substance and Meaning of The Constitution [Not yet, but if I'm going to argue about politics, I need to know the thinking of the Founders.]
  • Nineteen Eighty-Four, by George Orwell [Not yet, but sine we are living it NOW, I thought I'd add it to my collection]

I may review some of these books on these pages at a later date. In the meantime, consider adding them to your reading list. I'd also be happy to hear your suggestions. My coffee table can hold a little more weight.

How To Find Millions of Racists

I don't know about you, but I'm tired of being called a racist every time I disagree with the administration's policies. I'm not a racist, nor have I ever been.

One of my Daddy's best friends was Mr. Jackson. Both were old, in their late 60's, both were farmers in rural upstate South Carolina. One fall day they were discussing farming and the state of the world as I played at their feet. It was early in the 1960's.

As I watched, Mr. Jackson held out his hand next to my Daddy's. Both were the hands of men who had worked hard all their lives. "Harvey, the only difference in these hands is the color," Mr. Jackson said. "They both bleed red."

That is how I have always looked at any other person. We both (all) bleed red.

Now, I'm called a racist whenever I don't agree with policy. It can be cap and trade, health care, national defense, it doesn't matter. I disagree, to paraphrase Jimmy Carter, because I don't like a black man in the White House.

Mr. Carter, with all due respect, I don't care if the president is purple with green poka-dots, if he (or she) is leading the country in a responsible way. This President is not and either has an agenda we are not aware of or is totally clueless. I think it is the former.

The article below sums up how I feel and what I see happening. Please take a few minutes to read it. Mr. Wright says it so much better than I can on this dreary morning.

Busy Week!

It has been a busy week, hasn't it? Those two wonderful young people, James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles put their own safety aside to get the goods on ACORN. (See their undercover videos at biggovernment.com if you haven't already.) I applaud these two young people for finally getting something done about the corrupt entity, ACORN. For years ACORN has needed an investigation and a cut in government funding for their blatantly corrupt operations. Their activities were ignored by the mainstream news media and Congress. Each time a corrupt dealing was uncovered the excuse was made that it was a small handful of people, or staffer acting without approval of management.

Within a week of the O'Keefe/Giles videos both the Senate and the House voted to cut ACORN funding. Finally!

I think we should remain vigilant however, for entities such as ACORN will resurface with a new name, but the same people and agenda.

This is the first of what I hope are many victories in the war against corruption in this country. One battle does not win the war, however, and we citizens must keep our eyes open, video cameras ready, and do our own journalistic work to expose and bring corrupt officials and organizations to justice.

9.12. Protest March in Washington Today

Protesters of Obama's domestic policies will march in Washington, DC today. Oh, how I wish I could be with them. The protestors will march from Freedom Plaza to the National Mall, where there will be a rally. The event will be reported live on Fox News and C-SPAN from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Fox and until 4 p.m. on C-SPAN.

The web site, Freedom Works has put up a web page following the march with updates to be added as the day progresses. They have a link for a live internet viewing of the march provided by C-SPAN.

I am one of many who would love to be there but can't. I will be tuned into Fox News to watch Glenn Beck's coverage of the march. If you can, watch and see democracy in action.

God bless America!

Never Again?

Today we all pause to pray for the victims' of September 11, 2001. My family and I were like all the rest of you, shocked and numb, our emotions swinging from grief to righteous anger on that day.

Our President has declared today "a day of service" and will mark the day "with a moment of silence".

Today is a Sacred Day. It is a day to honor those we lost and the heroes who tried to save lives and lost their lives instead. It is a day to vow that never again will such an event strike our great nation and our people.

The current trend in our country is to dismantle all the provisions for our safety put in place after the tragedy of 9-11. We are to free those responsible. Remove trained personnel from our transit systems, see Michele Malkin's column, and other measures that will create more opportunity for terrorists.

I feel lucky to live in a small rural town. I feel safer here than if I lived in a big population center. However, recent acts of "home-grown terrorism" have shown us all that even in small idyllic communities, we are not immune from the madness.

Despite our president's recent apology tours overseas, we still are threatened from without. The President's cronyism politics, radical friends and advisors, and lack of concern for anything other than power, makes us at danger from within.

Never Again? Let us pray this is true.

545 vs. 300,000,000

I received this as in my email box this morning and thought it appropriate to share here. I do not know if Charlie Reese wrote the article or not, but it is attributed to him. If this is in error, someone please let me know.
545 vs. 300,000,000

EVERY   CITIZEN NEEDS TO READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THIS JOURNALIST HAS scripted IN THIS MESSAGE.  READ IT AND THEN REALLY THINK ABOUT OUR CURRENT POLITICAL DEBACLE.

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

545 PEOPLE
by Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered: if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators,  435 congressmen, one  president, and nine Supreme Court  justices equates to 545 human  beings out of the 300 million  are directly, legally, morally,  and individually responsible  for the domestic problems that plague  this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress.   In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central   bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority.   They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking
thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash.  The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes.  Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi.  She is the leader of the majority party.  She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want.  If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree   to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of   incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.  When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ, it's because they want them in IRAQ

if they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift  the blame  to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to  regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power.

Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people and they alone, are responsible.

They and they alone, have the power.

They and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

What you do with this article now that you have read it.......... Is up to you.

Back to Work Today

I enjoyed my long weekend and all the computer research time it provided me. Today it’s back to the real world of work and responsibilities other than writing and political rants. The political rants will continue though, even if written in the dead of night.

We have a lot of work to do and can't back of for a moment. The Health Care Bill, Cap and Trade, and who knows what else that's in the works need to be carefully scrutinized. We must keep up with letters, emails and phone calls to our representatives so they know what we think on the issues.

If they ignore us, then it is our duty to vote them out come election time. Every single one of them. Check their voting records on all issues. Tell your friends and neighbors and hold your representatives accountable. They work for us. A fact too many of them have forgotten.

The Political Granny: Who I Am and What This Blog is About

I am a woman who has grand and great-grand children. I have never been political until the last election. I've voted since I was old enough to register, but have never been a member of any political party. I always vote for the person I think can (or will) do the best job.

Up until a few months ago, my blogging consisted of my gardening blog and the blog I help my cats write. Then I got real worried and upset by the direction our country is taking. I joined some online political groups, then I began writing on another blog about politics. The "political" blog had started out as a place for random thoughts about many things.

Time has passed and I decided to start this blog, which will mainly be about politics and my thoughts on the country, history and the direction of the country. I'll probably rant and rave a lot. don't we all nowadays?
